Applications are now being accepted for Vulcan Park and Museum’s Junior Leadership Board’s 2025-2026 term.


The purpose of the Junior Leadership Board is to support the mission and needs of Vulcan® Park & Museum (VPM) and assist leadership with the general promotion of the organization.

Junior Leadership Board members will have numerous opportunities to become involved, including the continued development of the Vulcans On Parade community art project, as well as other events and fundraisers associated with the well-known Birmingham institution.

Other benefits include, but are not limited to, an opportunity to possibly serve on the Board of Directors in the future, invitations to special events and the ability to expand your horizons and network with a diverse group of young professionals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Board of Directors and VPM staff by becoming a member
  • Serve as an ambassador for VPM within the community
  • Be alert to any community concerns and/or opportunities that VPM can be a part of and/or benefit from
  • Support VPM by attending events and promoting them to your network of friends, family, etc.; help with the implementation and planning of the signature Junior
  • Leadership Board’s fundraiser
  • Volunteer for events at VPM
  • articipate by making recommendations based on his or her experience in the community

ELIGIBILITY AND LENGTH OF TERM

  • Must be between the ages of 21-40, complete the Junior Leadership Board (JLB) application, and submit a resume for review
  • The length of term is two years, which may be renewed up to two consecutive terms, pending approval of the JLB Executive Committee
  • The JLB shall consist of no less than 12 but no more than 20 people
  • Board membership may be subject for termination if any actions of a committee member while serving are deemed to be detrimental to the mission of VPM and as voted upon by the JLB’s Executive Committee

EXPECTATIONS

  • Attend and participate in meetings on a regular basis, and special events as able
  • Help communicate and promote VPM’s mission and programs to the community
  • Financially support VPM in a manner commensurate with one’s ability and become a member at one of the membership levels
  • Become familiar with VPM’s financial and resource needs
  • Understand VPM’s Code of Business Ethics and Conduct (CBEC)
  • Adhere to the guidelines set forth by both VPM and JLB Executive Committee

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE JUNIOR LEADERSHIP BOARD?

  • Applications are accepted from April 21, 2025 until May 30, 2025.
  • The selection process will be during the time period from June 2, 2025-June 13, 2025.
  • New members will be informed June 16, 2025 and will begin serving their 24-month term on July 1, 2025.
  • The JLB may not exceed 20 members, so candidacy is highly competitive. Interested applicants should complete an application form.
