What Vulcan Park & Museum is doing to prepare for coronavirus (COVID-19)

The health and safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers in our care is our priority at Vulcan Park & Museum. We are closely monitoring the developments of coronavirus (COVID-19). We are following the most current recommendations and alerts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), and Jefferson County Department of Health (JDCH).  Please visit  www.birminghamal.gov/coronavirus for updates in our area.

Q: Is Vulcan Park and Museum Open?

A: Yes. At this time, Vulcan Park & Museum will remain open during regular hours Sunday – Saturday, 10am to 10pm. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines as the situation evolves and as we get new information on the severity and spread of the virus.

Q: Is it safe to visit Vulcan Park & Museum?

A: The health and safety of our visitors and staff is a top priority. We are taking appropriate action to prepare for any escalation associated with COVID-19. We encourage our visitors to make personal decisions for yourself and your family based on the current status of the virus in our area.

Q: How are staff keeping the park clean?

A: Vulcan Park & Museum has begun taking additional steps beyond our daily cleaning practices to ensure our facilities are thoroughly disinfected, including:

  • Increased cleaning in guest and staff areas throughout the property
  • Continuously disinfecting doors and handles
  • Emphasizing the importance of staying home when sick and hand hygiene by all staff and volunteers
  • Closely monitoring updates from the CDC, federal, state and local health authorities

Q: Will Vulcan Park & Museum cancel upcoming programs and events?

A: Vulcan Park & Museum is not currently planning any cancellations of our upcoming programs or events. We continue to follow CDC guidelines and public health advisories as the situation evolves and as we get new information on the severity and spread of the virus. We will notify the public of any changes in operations, closings and cancellations.
