Thunder on the Mountain, Alabama’s most spectacular and largest Fourth of July fireworks show, returns to Red Mountain on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Vulcan Park & Museum invites the community to experience this annual tradition as the city’s sky lights up in celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday.
At approximately 9 p.m., Pyro Shows of Alabama will launch the first of more than 2,500 fireworks shells and effects in a 20-minute show synchronized to a patriotic soundtrack.
Music will be broadcast on iHeartMedia Birmingham radio stations, including 102.5 The Bull, 103.1 The Beat, 103.7 The Q, Magic 96.5, News Radio 960 WERC, and La Jefa 98.3.
The show will also air live on WBRC 6 News for viewers across the Birmingham metro area.
Presented by UAB Medicine, Thunder on the Mountain is organized by Vulcan Park Foundation with support from the City of Birmingham, the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the City of Homewood. PLEASE NOTE: Vulcan Park & Museum and Valley View Drive will be closed to the public during the fireworks show. Thunder on the Mountain is visible from multiple vantage points across downtown Birmingham and Homewood!
