*FREE EVENT* Revolutionary Alabamians: People Who Made a Difference – Panel Discussion

What does it truly mean to be revolutionary in Alabama?

Join Vulcan Park & Museum for an engaging and inspiring panel discussion celebrating Alabamians who have shaped their communities through courage, creativity, and conviction. Revolutionary Alabamians: People Who Made a Difference explores how meaningful change happens—not only through protest or politics, but through art, education, public service, and community leadership.

This dynamic conversation will examine personal journeys, pivotal turning points, and the power of local action in a state rich with history and tradition. Panelists will reflect on the challenges and possibilities of progress in Alabama, share insights on inspiring the next generation of changemakers, and offer hopeful visions for the future.

Featured Panelists

  • Josh Coleman – Author, public servant, and community advocate. Deputy Director of the Office of Social Justice and Racial Equity for the City of Birmingham and President of Central Alabama Pride. Coleman is a leader in advancing equity, inclusion, and joyful community spaces across the state.
  • Ashley M. Jones – Acclaimed writer, educator, and former Alabama Poet Laureate. The youngest and first person of color to hold the title, Jones uses poetry to explore history, faith, family, and the Black experience in America.
  • Patricia Todd – Political activist and trailblazer. Alabama’s first openly gay elected official, former member of the Alabama House of Representatives, and lifelong advocate for equality, workers’ rights, and social justice.
