Fred & Ruby: A Play About Birmingham Civil Rights Activists

Join us at Vulcan Park & Museum on Thursday, September 18, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM for a special performance of Fred & Ruby, a two-person play set in Birmingham’s historic Terminal Station in 1957. This powerful production showcases the lives of civil rights activists Fred and Ruby Shuttlesworth, highlighting their time in Birmingham as they worked for equality and justice.

Highlighting the lesser-known female perspective within the Civil Rights Movement, Fred & Ruby provides an intimate and candid look into the sacrifices made by the Shuttlesworth family in their fight for the African American community.

Cast: Robert Burgins as Fred Shuttlesworth and Tonya Marshall as Ruby Shuttlesworth
Script: Felix Crutcher
Director: Alicia Johnson-Williams

Fred & Ruby will be performed in the museum’s Electra event space.
