Vulcan Park & Museum Partners with Kiwanis Club of Birmingham and Children’s of Alabama to light up the holidays

Synchronized, Christmas light show to captivate patients during their stay

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vulcan Park & Museum is proud to announce a partnership with Children’s of Alabama to enable the patients and their families to enjoy the 2nd Annual Magic of Lights: Vulcan’s Holiday Light Experience from now until Dec. 23.

Through the generous support from Kiwanis Club of Birmingham and Children’s of Alabama, Vulcan Park will offer a similar experience to the children residing in the hospital during the holiday. This experience will be broadcasted through closed-captioning television and a mobile website at the top of each hour beginning at 6p.m.

At the top of each hour, guests will enjoy a 15-minute lively array of dancing lights choreographed to delightful holiday music. With the capability of the website, the patients and their families can log in and witness a light show to music as if they were at the park.

“The light show brings so much joy to our patients and their families,” said Honey Cook, Child Life supervisor at Children’s of Alabama. “We are thankful that our patients have the opportunity to participate in traditional holiday activities they might otherwise miss while they are hospitalized.”

Joe Saling, Director of Visitor Experience is thrilled to provide the community with a great show this holiday season.

“For decades, people have gathered to share their love of Vulcan, enjoy the breathtaking views and capture special moments,” Saling said. “We want to continue this tradition and bring the magic to the children and their families at Children’s of Alabama.”

For a personal experience and to witness the show up close, guests can visit Vulcan any night until Dec. 23. In addition, The Anvil and Museum will have extended hours until 9 p.m. along with complimentary hot chocolate.

Admission is $6 for 13 and up, $4 for kids ages 5-12 and children under 4 are free.
