Vulcan Park Foundation announces it will postpone the annual Vulcans Community Awards to November 6, 2024.

Vulcan Park Foundation will postpone The Vulcans Community Awards until next year to align with the opening of the Foundation’s year-long exhibit celebrating the 20th anniversary of the reopening of Vulcan Park & Museum in 2004, the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Foundation, and Vulcan’s year-long celebration of his 120th birthday.

Vulcan Park Foundation President & CEO, Cynthia Cardona, said, “postponing this event by a year allows the Foundation and the Vulcans Community Awards committees to reinvent the event to complement the exciting anniversaries coming up in 2024”.

Since 2014, The Vulcans Community Awards has recognized citizens throughout the seven-county Birmingham region who personified Vulcan-sized civic commitment and pride, leadership, and progress.  Over its eight-year history, The Vulcans Community Awards has celebrated over 75 ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things, people who were not seeking recognition and who were living the values attributed to Vulcan, the Roman mythical figure.

These prestigious awards honor 6 citizens who exemplify civic pride, leadership, and progress in four award categories: Lifetime Achievement, Hero, and Servant Leadership.

Last year, Vulcan Park and Museum received over 100 nominations from individuals in the Birmingham metropolitan area: Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, St. Clair, Shelby and Walker Counties, who worked tirelessly to affect change, serve, lead or make a difference in the lives of the people, places and organizations in the city.
