Birmingham’s theatre scene has long been a stage for storytelling, creativity, and cultural expression. This event, inspired by Vulcan Park & Museum’s current exhibit, From Steel to Stage: The History of Theatre in Birmingham, explores the evolution of local theatre from early vaudeville houses to modern playhouses. Artifacts on display will include vintage playbills and seating from the historic Little Theatre.

Iron Bowl to Stallions: Alabama’s Football Obsession
Football is more than a pastime in Alabama—it’s a way of life. This event delves into the fierce Iron Bowl rivalry between Alabama and Auburn, featuring one of the most unique artifacts in the Vulcan Park Foundation Collection—a custom-made coat split between the two teams’ colors. The evening will also highlight Birmingham’s professional football history, including memorabilia from the Birmingham Stallions (1982–1985). To complete the experience, guests will enjoy a tailgate-style menu, perfect for any football fan.

Birmingham’s Red-Light District
Step back into the late 19th and early 20th centuries when Birmingham’s Red-Light District thrived. This evening explores the fascinating life of Lou Wooster, a savvy and enigmatic businesswoman whose brothel once stood on 4th Avenue North. While no known photographs of Lou exist, her writings and scrapbook—preserved in the Vulcan Park Foundation Collection—offer a glimpse into her world. Guests will enjoy a lively discussion about Birmingham’s underbelly, including Lou’s impact on the city while sipping on a signature Cosmo cocktail, a nod to the glamour and intrigue of the era.

Brewing Up History: Birmingham’s Craft Beer & Spirits Scene
Birmingham’s craft brewing and distilling scene is booming, but its roots run deep. This event explores the city’s historic and modern spirits industry, including relics from the Birmingham Brewing Company, a standout brewery from the 1990s. Attendees will also learn about the Waterfill and Frazier Bicentennial Bourbon, a special-edition bottle commemorating the American Revolution Bicentennial—a fitting tribute as the nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2026. Guests will enjoy a curated tasting of Alabama-made spirits, featuring selections from Dread River Distilling Co. and Redmont Distillery, raising a glass to Birmingham’s past and present.
