Dr. Tommy Bice to Lead Annual Teacher Symposium and Workshop at Vulcan® Park and Museum

Birmingham, Ala. – Dr. Tommy Bice, State of Alabama School Superintendent, will be the keynote speaker at Vulcan® Park and Museum’s CCRS (College and Career Ready Standards) Symposium and Workshop on Wednesday, October 28 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.

Dr. Bice will speak on how the statewide Common Core initiative impacts social studies curriculum in our schools. Additionally, Dr. Jeremiah Clabough, Assistant Professor of Secondary Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will lead a hands-on workshop on the use of primary sources. This workshop will leave educators with at least ten activities to take back and implement in their classrooms.

This symposium and workshop is open to all teachers and administrators, public or private. Tickets are $50 and includes lunch, materials, a guided tour of the Vulcan Center museum, and free admission to the observation tower and park.
