Pattie and Josephine Waiting in Alabama

On Sale Now!

Pattie and Josephine: Waiting in Alabama is a one-act, two-person play that tells the story of Pattie Ruffner Jacobs and her friend, Josephine, as they compare their experiences fighting for equal voting rights as women of different races. This dramatic performance will capture the audience’s attention and highlight the complexity of changing a culture of racial and gender discrimination in regards to voting, an issue that is still of importance today. Written by Lee Shackleford and directed by Melissa “Mel” Christian, this play is in conjunction with Vulcan Park and Museum’s current exhibit, Right or Privilege? Alabama Women and the Vote celebrating the centennial of the passage of the 19th amendment.
