Volunteer with Vulcan
As a Vulcan Park and Museum volunteer, you invest in the future of Vulcan, Birmingham and our community. Volunteers encourage the education of our city and enrich park visitors' experiences while in Birmingham. Becoming a Vulcan Park and Museum volunteer is an opportunity to give back to your community in a special way. You will encounter guests from all over the world while sharing Vulcan Park and Museum's significance to Birmingham.
We offer flexible volunteer schedules, training, volunteer service awards and recognition programs and other great benefits. Volunteers assist with special events, visitor services or administrative duties and must be at least 18 years old.
Vulcan Park and Museum also offers a Docent Program.
Docents volunteer their time to be a museum teacher and interpret Vulcan Center Museum exhibits to schoolchildren. They share knowledge in a lively and entertaining manner with these children and help enhance their experience at Vulcan Park and Museum.
Docent training includes the history of Vulcan and Birmingham as well as touring technique tips. No previous teaching experience required - just a love of learning and an interest in history. Docents must be at least 18.
For information about becoming a volunteer or docent, please call Educational Program Coordinator Sheila Cook at 205.933.1409 x 29 or scook@visitvulcan.com.
