Workers in early Birmingham had no trouble getting their exercise, but today, being active takes much more effort. Through the Iron Kids patch, participants learn the story of health and fitness in Birmingham, looking at how people left farms to work in factories, changing the way they ate and expended energy in the process. We make Vulcan’s Iron Kids patch an exhilarating experience, combining history with lots of physical activity. Participants run up the 150- step staircase and slide on the grassy hills. This program will help each Girl Scout develop physical skills and historical awareness. Girls will receive the Iron Kids patch.
