Vulcan AfterTunes 2017 Presented by Regions Bank Continues This Sunday

New Breed Brass Band and Heath Green & The Makeshifters to Rock Vulcan’s Stage

Birmingham, Ala. – The 2017 Vulcan AfterTunes fall concert series presented by Regions Bank continues this Sunday, October 15 with a jazzy  performance by New Breed Brass Band with Birmingham’s own Heath Green & The Makeshifters.

New Breed Brass Band lives and breathes the culture of New Orleans, infusing funk, rock, jazz, and hip-hop into a custom-made enhancement of second-line brass band tradition. With a founding core of five New Orleans natives, New Breed Brass Band made its street debut as a nine-man unit in November 2013 at the Nine Times Second Line.  Since then, they have showcased their originality opening for bands like The Fray, Red Baraat, Dr. John, The Waterboys, and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.

As a longtime fixture on the Birmingham music scene through groups like Mudpie, Fishergreen, and The Back Row Baptists, Heath Green has carved out a reputation as one of the finest songwriters and performers around, combining gritty storytelling with an electric delivery that’s on par with the best soul men of the modern era. Green’s penchant for “tell it like it is” songwriting has made him a favorite among local “scenesters” in the Magic City. From searing blues boogie and heartbreaking balladry to maximum rock n’ roll, Heath Green & The Makeshifters has it all and then some.

Local and regional beer available for purchase will include options from Avondale Brewing Company, Cigar City Brewing Company, and Founders Brewing Company, provided by AlaBev. Wine selections will be provided by Piggly Wiggly Birmingham.  Broad Street Peaux Boys and Nothing Bundt Cakes will be also be onsite.

Vulcan Park and Museum has also brought back the kids zone sponsored by Alabama Baby & Child Magazine that will truly make Vulcan AfterTunes fun for the whole family!
